Summer Term 2010

The Duke of Edinburgh Camp went well during the first week in July.  The weather was mixed being very challenging at times.  The students at all levels did extremely well.  Five Year 12 students were picked off the hillside by an RAF Helicopter and returned to base camp.  One of the girls had a sprained ankle and all were struggling with the cold and wet conditions.  The girls followed their training proceedures perfectly and are all safe and sound.  Parents were informed immediately.  A local newshound was very keen to make a story of it ...hence its appearance on Midlands Today last evening.

The Camp was brilliantly organised by Malcolm Davis supported by a host of staff.  As always the students were fantastic and achieved wonderfully.  Well done to all concerned.

The Summer Term is going well.  Thanks to our examinations team, led by Mrs Palmersfield and Mr Colley, for excellent organisation of so many exams.  Well done to students who arrive in good time and are so well equipped.

The re-organised day was clearly instrumental in the England win and we were pleased to be able to do this.  Our re-formatted Arts evening was enjoyed by many and raised big funds for Arusha.  Thanks to all involved, whether organising, delivering or supporting.

We have a lot to look forward to in the Summer Term.  Excellent lessons, of course, DofE/Activity week followed by work experience for Year 10.  In the final week there are some important celebration opportunities for Years 9, 10 and 12.

Beyond the end of Term we have the examination results (A Level on Thursday 19  August and GCSE on Tuesday 24 August) to look forward to.

The results of the Parental Survey conducted on Annual Review Day

All those parents/carers who attended the Annual Review Day will know that we used the opportunity to conduct a survey of parental opinions about the school.

We have now collated the results

We were really pleased not only with the number of responses that we had (584), but the overwhelmingly positive nature of these, which suggests very strong support for the work that we are doing in school.  However, this does not mean that we are at all complacent and we will be looking to address issues that the survey has enabled us to identify.
