The school has a thriving SEN department that is fully committed to all students achieving their potential and have access to the support and enrichment which allows them to do this. The school has an SEN team with specific roles and our aim is to meet all students’ needs as effectively as possible with the resources that are available to us. All students are encouraged to follow a broad and balanced curriculum. The interventions and support that is offered to appropriate students is varied and can include Movement and Listening programmes, Handwriting programme, computer based literacy and Numeracy programmes, Self esteem building activities such as outdoor pursuits. Vocational and alternative curriculum opportunities at key stage 4. All students on the SEN data base are encouraged to participate in the extensive extra curricular programme in the school The support given to students is considered to be outstanding. Every effort is made to maintain this quality.
