Business Studies

Year 10 & 11

Business Studies is taught at both GCSE and A Level and is extremely popular.  In years 10 and 11 there are two courses that are run, the Applied GCSE and BTEC first Certificate.  Both courses are worth two GCSEs.  Each course covers a wide range of Business issues including how businesses are set up, the resources they need to survive, how they are marketed and financed. Lessons will suit all learning styles and abilities.  A feature of the courses is the use of real business examples and students are encouraged to draw on the experiences of parents and relatives to help illustrate their work.

Year 12 & 13

At A Level we also offer two courses, a full A Level course and BTEC National Award.  Both of these courses are a single A Level and give the same UMS points for Universities.  Each course covers a wide variety of business issues and students are encouraged to use their own experiences of work to help them in their studies.  It is not a requirement for students to have studied the subject beforehand but good levels of English will be required.  Students are encouraged to take an active interest in current business issues.
