Year 10 & 11 Resistant Materials is a practical subject area which requires the application of knowledge and understanding to develop ideas, plan for production, produce products and evaluate them. It is a workshop based course with ICT input, using primarily wood, metal and plastics to make quality products. Students should be creative and innovative when designing, taking account of moral, social, cultural and environmental values and needs. They will be taught to select and use tools/ equipment, and to use testing, planning and evaluation skills to produce a practical outcome of high quality. Candidates are required to produce a Major piece of coursework in Year 11, worth 60% of total exam marks.
