Media Studies

Year 10 & 11

In Media Studies students will study a range of topics. Some or all of the following will be covered: advertising, animation, film, TV, radio, the internet, newspapers and magazines.
Essay writing and creative skills are needed for coursework and the exam. Students need to be well-organised and be able to work independently as coursework is 50%.
We are looking for students who have a keen interest in how we use the media and how companies seek to persuade us to use their products and services.
 

Year 12 & 13

Media Studies is taught at AS and A2. We would expect students to have gained a grade B in GCSE Media Studies and/or English, if they did not take Media Studies at KS4.
Essay writing and creative skills are needed for coursework and the exam. Students need to be well-organised and be able to work independently as coursework is 50%.
Topics that will be covered are soap operas and music at A/S level, and representation and new/digital technology at A2.
We are looking for students who follow current issues and debates in the media if they are to succeed at this level.
