Year 12 & 13 Drama and Theatre Studies is taught at AS and A2 Level. Although no prior drama qualification is required to study the course, an interest in Drama and Theatre, and some prior experience of performance is beneficial. This may take the form of a GCSE qualification in Drama, or involvement in extra-curricular drama. We also require good attainment in GCSE English. On the course students study texts and performance skills through a variety of practical means, exploring the nature of theatre, and viewing contemporary theatre in relation to our theatrical heritage. Assessment is through a combination of coursework and exam, with both components including written work and practical performance. Past students have subsequently progressed into a range of fields and qualifications, with some training and working as actors and other arts professionals, whilst others have pursued careers in fields as diverse as accountancy, local government, business and the media.
