The Faculty currently offers AS and A2 level courses in both French and German. Teaching is based around modern, purpose-written textbooks, reinforced and supplemented by a wealth of audio and visual material, including on-line resources and the latest technologies. Teaching is topic-based, with the four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing being developed through a range of stimulating and challenging situations. Students are taught in small groups, typically between 2-10 students, by experienced teachers whom they know well. This enables us to build strong relationships with our students, to give individual attention in order to build confidence or to recognise and remedy any weaknesses. All students have a timetabled period with either the Foreign Language Assistant or another member of staff in order to develop confidence and proficiency in speaking.
