  • South Bromsgrove High students rise to the challenge of the new GCSEs

    This year was the first year of results for the reformed GCSEs in Maths, English Language and English Literature. These qualifications are designed to be more challenging and are assessed differently. English GCSEs no longer include coursework and therefore the final grade is solely determined by the exams in the summer. Maths and English GCSEs are also graded differently using a number system in which 9 is the highest grade and 1 the lowest. To give some context, broadly the same proportion of students will achieve a grade 4 and above as have achieved a C grade in previous years.

  • Under New Management

    After seven successful years of Headship at South Bromsgrove High, Paul Topping is moving on in August 2017 to become Headteacher at The British School in the Netherlands. Since joining the school in 2010, Mr Topping has steered South Bromsgrove into a position as an outstanding school and National Teaching School. The school also became an academy in 2014.

  • Stunning Production of Billy Elliot @ South Bromsgrove High

    Students at South Bromsgrove High played to packed audiences with their production of ‘Billy Elliot’ last term.  The 73 strong cast wowed audiences with the production of this award winning musical with stunning choreography and both funny, and touching, acting and musical performances.   The production was also supported by a talented student production team who created the sets and added dramatic depth to the musical with innovative light and sound.

  • This Girl Can Returns to Worcestershire!

    Following the extremely successful campaign in the Malvern Hills District last year, #WorcsGirlsCan returns to Worcestershire, this time on a county-wide basis. Last year’s campaign offered 61 different activities across a range of schools and sports clubs, engaging approximately 500 young women in Malvern; 2017 promises to be bigger and better!

  • Lord Rooker discussed life at Westminster

    South hosted a talk from a member of the House of Lords to encourage students to become more engaged with the political and parliamentary process.  Lord Rooker met with Sixth form History, Politics and Law students for an hour to talk about the work and role of the House of Lords. This was followed by a question and answer session on various aspects of the parliamentary process and life at Westminster generally.

    Yr11 pianist, Eddie Wang, entered three classes of the Solihull Music Festival on Friday and won them all. On Saturday he was invited to perform at the winners concert and was then selected as Musician of the Year, receiving a bursary of £1000! #southpride
