Rugby Star Inspires Students
A group of Year 12 students were extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet a modern day sporting icon this term. Through the school’s involvement in the ‘Living for Sport’ campaign, Rugby Union star, Heather Fisher visited South Bromsgrove High. With Heather’s busy schedule (Team GB, England Rugby and GB Bobsleigh) it was wonderful that she was willing to spend a whole school day with pupils and staff. Her story, and clear passion for sport, was not only educational but very inspiring.
During the day she spent time discussing and developing vital leadership skills and also gave a speech surrounding gender in sport and her experience. From witnessing pupils climb ladders blindfolded, to seeing pupils sit in amazement during her injury stories, all of the staff and students involved gained a great learning experience from Heather’s visit.
Mr Law, PE Teacher at South Bromsgrove High said, “From the moment you meet an athlete of Heather’s credentials, you naturally feel in awe of her experiences. She is a truly inspiring individual and was fantastic with every pupil and member of staff she met on the day.”
