Excellent A level standards continue at South Bromsgrove High

Sixth Form students at South Bromsgrove High School have maintained the very high standards expected of an outstanding school both in A Levels and BTEC qualifications, meeting some very challenging targets set for Key stage 5.

In 2017/18, 40% of all A level passes stood at A*-B and 50% of Btec entries at Distinction Star or Distinction, with an overall pass rate of over 97% from a year group of 172.  There were many excellent grades across a range of subjects and a number of students performed extremely well with high grades across the board.

In addition to academic success, 70 students in Year 13 completed their two year Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Expedition and are set to claim the Award in September - a prize highly valued by universities and employers.

Headteacher, Chris Smith, is very pleased with the results. “Once again, I would like to congratulate students on their outstanding achievements and thank parents for their support during the Sixth Form years. We believe that all of our students will secure their destinations beyond school and we wish them well as they embark on this new and exciting stage of their lives.

Students’ success is always achieved through hard work and commitment to studies but I would also like to thank Governors, teaching and support staff for their continuing excellent leadership and unswerving support of students at South Bromsgrove High.”
