Over 30 students from South Bromsgrove became budding town planners for the afternoon when they recently welcomed three officers from Bromsgrove Council’s Town Planning department for an activity-filled session looking at the future of our town. Claire Holmes, Rebecca Brown, and Matt Stanczyszy, from the Strategic Planning and Conservation Team, planned a series of activities to generate vibrant discussion, including a board game where the students had to understand the viewpoints of other residents and stakeholders in Bromsgrove.
The afternoon was part of Bromsgrove District Council’s planning review and South’s students were consulted on issues such as housing, employment, transport, social infrastructure and the environment. James Siddle, Deputy Headteacher, said ‘Student Voice is very important to us at South Bromsgrove and it was fantastic to observe our students contributing ideas which could have an impact on Bromsgrove’s development in the future’. Claire Holmes, from Bromsgrove District Council, added, ‘The students were really engaged and had some great comments to make.’
